Dew

This visual identity project was a self-initiated challenge to create a parametric-based typeface. The process combined coding to generate an irregular grid with design exploration in Adobe Illustrator, where I extracted circles from the grid and used their common tangents to construct the letterforms.

The concept was shaped by Olafur Eliasson’s Dew installation, which employs partially silvered crystal spheres to create reflections resembling droplets of dew. The idea draws inspiration from the paradoxical nature of dew—at once repetitive in its occurrence yet dynamic in its form and effect.
Much like Eliasson’s installation, the dew is formed organically, with water droplets taking on unpredictable shapes and sizes. The irregular grid, generated through coding, translates this idea into a visual system that evolves without direct intervention from me.
